IEPVue uses artificial intelligence to help you understand your child's IEP or 504 plan and prepare for meetings. We believe you should be completely clear about what that means — so here it is in plain language.
IEPVue's guidance is generated by an automated AI system we call Vue (powered by Anthropic's Claude). Vue is software, not a person. When you use IEPVue, you are interacting with an AI system — not Dr. Kristen Eccleston herself, and not a lawyer, advocate, teacher, doctor, or therapist. The app tells you this when you start a chat, and you'll see reminders as you go.
When you begin a chat, you'll see this notice:
"You're chatting with IEPVue's AI assistant — an automated tool built on Dr. Kristen Eccleston's expertise, not Dr. Kristen herself. It provides educational information and questions to ask; it doesn't give legal advice or make eligibility or placement decisions. AI can be wrong — verify anything important with your IEP team."
IEPVue's guidance is designed using the advocacy method and philosophy Dr. Kristen Eccleston, Ed.D., developed over two decades in special education. But the guidance is produced by an automated AI system, not by Dr. Kristen personally. Dr. Kristen does not review your individual documents or results, and the AI's output is not her personal opinion about your child.
Vue's analysis is produced automatically. A person is not checking each report or chat response before it reaches you. We maintain general oversight of the system and review its quality over time, but we do not review your individual outputs.
AI can misread a document, miss something important, or rely on information that has changed. IEPVue's guidance is educational information only — it is not legal advice, not medical or clinical advice, and not a professional diagnosis. Read Vue's guidance alongside your own records, and confirm anything important with your IEP/504 team, your district, or a qualified professional before acting on it. Special-education rules and timelines vary by state and change over time; IEPVue is built around practice in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
Vue helps you understand and prepare. It does not decide your child's eligibility, placement, or services — those decisions belong to your IEP/504 team and school district — and it is not a substitute for a licensed attorney, whom only you can consult about your specific legal rights.
We do not use your information, your student's information, or your uploaded documents to train AI models, and our AI provider does not train its models on content submitted through its API. We never store the documents you upload — they are processed during your live session and then cleared. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for the full detail.
